New Mum & Baby Check

These appointments should be booked only with a GP, then the baby Immunisation should be booked only with the Nurse.

Please ensure you have registered your baby as a patient with the surgery before this 8 week check.

Please bring along to your appointment your child's red book, this will enable weight & vaccinations to be recorded for your future reference.

Parents should book a 20 minute appointment (double slot) for the baby followed immediately after with a 10 minute appointment for Mum with the GP. A 20 minute appointment should then be booked with the Nurse only for your baby's first immunisation.

As this is a long appointment (50 minutes in total) that has to be co-ordinated with a Doctor and Nurse, please ensure you are not late. If you are late, it does not give enough time for all the appropriate checks to be carried out properly & you would therefore be asked by the GP & Receptionist to rebook.

Please ensure a parent mobile contact number is on your baby's registration notes to enable our team to add this to the baby's record, this will ensure you receive a text reminder for the baby's appointment as well as your own.

If you have any queries or require assistance in booking, please contact our Reception Team who will be happy to assist you.

Healthier Together Website

A new website has been developed by healthcare professionals to help new parents get healthcare and wellbeing information.

Are you concerned about a baby or child’s health or wellbeing?

The new NHS ‘Healthier Together’ website provides clear advice for anyone in Hertfordshire or west Essex who wants to turn to a reliable source of local information.

The site provides information put together by local child health experts, helping you to recognise what might be wrong, when to seek help, how to keep your child comfortable and how long their symptoms may last.

For parents of ‘lockdown babies’ who may not have been exposed to common childhood illnesses before, or little ones starting to go out and about again, the Healthier Together site will be a useful source of support and reassurance.

All the advice available has been developed with healthcare professionals who want you to get the right advice, first time, helping to take some of the stress out of caring.
